Highlands and Moray

The Highland & Moray Area Board manages the activities of Young Enterprise Scotland from Thurso to Kingussie, and Fort William to Fochabers.

Our aim, in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland, is to promote enterprise and entrepreneurship amongst young people in the area. To do this we work with a wide range of individuals and organisations from across the public, private, academic and not-for-profit sectors, and most importantly the young people from our Schools.

Our main programme is the school Company Programme designed to provide 16 -18-year olds with the experience of setting up and running their own company.

Companies are formed in the school and supervised by a Link Teacher with advice and support from a volunteer Business Adviser.

The Area Board supports this Programme by helping Link Teachers, identifying Business Advisers and by running a series of coaching and other events to help young people succeed.

Over the course of the year we support the young people across Highland and Moray by:

organising business training to introduce the students to all aspects of company operation;
providing each company with a Business Adviser – a volunteer from the local business community who advises the students on all aspects of their company operation (whilst carefully avoiding actually doing the work themselves!)

Without the help of our volunteer Board Members, Link Teachers and the support of many organisations in the area who offer the time of their staff, the use of their facilities and financial support, the YES Company Programme in the Highlands and Moray simply could not succeed. Our thanks are due to them all.

Whether you are young person looking to get involved, a school wishing to find out what is happening or an individual or an organisation looking for an exciting initiative to support we would love to hear from you.
