Dunbartonshire
Welcome to the Young Enterprise Scotland Dunbartonshire Homepage!
The Dunbartonshire Area Board manages the activities of Young Enterprise across East and West Dunbartonshire, plus Helensburgh and Lomond. Our main programme is the school Company Programme designed to provide 15-18-year-old young people with the experience of setting up and running their own company. Companies are formed in the school and supervised by a Link Teacher with advice and support from a volunteer Business Adviser.The Area Board supports this Programme by helping Link Teachers, identifying Business Advisers and by running a series of coaching and other events to help young people succeed. The members of the Area Board are listed on this website (below) and any one may be contacted for further information. We could not offer this programme without the support of many organisations in the area who offer the time of their staff, the use of their facilities and financial support. Our thanks are due to them all.
Whilst many Link Teachers are experienced and are confident in knowing the way forward to set up a YE school company there will be many who are new to it or have less experience. There are a number of sources of help within the Dunbartonshire Area and we would recommend that you make use of the support and advice available. Please feel free to request support. If you are a new Link Teacher we will provide support with helping to get your YE company going. To arrange such help in the first instance please call Jacqui King on 01436 820702.
Don't put off requesting support – the sooner you ask the sooner we can help you. To get started just go on to the YE website and start the Registration process. The Marketing Dept at the University of Strathclyde are again offering to provide all Dunbartonshire school companies with in-school coaching sessions on developing a marketing strategy. To access this service contact Professor Stan Paliwoda at stan.paliwoda@strath.ac.uk .
The Area Board is committed to making Young Enterprise an exciting and successful experience for the Achievers so please help us help you by providing us with feedback and your suggestions. Please feel free to contact either of;

OUR NEXT EVENTS
31 August 2011
We are proposing again to hold a Link Teacher/Advisor evening to ensure everyone is briefed on the year ahead. This will be held on 31st August in the Cunard Suite, Clydebank College, Clydebank, from about 1630-1900, courtesy of the College. Previously we have received mixed feedback on these evenings; they are much appreciated by newcomers, but are less well-attended by the experienced hands. If you are in the latter category, we ask that you still try to attend, not only to be fully briefed on the next session, but also to be able to pass on your experience to newer Link Teacher colleagues.
If you have not already done so will you please confirm your intention to attend the Link Teacher/Business Adviser evening to Jacqui. Further details will be available nearer the time but meanwhile perhaps you would like to note it in your diary.
15 September 2011
This year we have decided to continue with the one day Masterclass event combining a speaker with a facilitated workshop style coaching session, as well as a business game. The "Masterclass" will be held on 15 September in a venue to be advised, probably central Glasgow. Full details will follow nearer the time. This is normally a popular event and by having it early in the session, it will provide the young people with a good opportunity to shape their thinking on how to set up and run a Company. Application forms for this event will be sent out early in the new term.
