| The Little Lift Gift Co |

|
|
The company produces gift bags with a variety of contents e.g. diary, pens, teddy bear, contact books and notelets designed to give the recipient a ‘little lift’, whether this is for Christmas, birthdays, Valentine’s day etc. The product is versatile enough to allow for seasonal variations and to meet the needs of the target market (children and adults, females or males to buy as gifts) throughout the year and to be sold mainly to staff, young people and friends within the Good Shepherd Centre. Although the company has only three members, between them they cover the management, administration, accounts, marketing, sales and stock control functions of the company. In November 2009, they also pulled together to deliver a strong presentation to secure a start-up loan for the company from a panel of ‘dragons’ made up of staff from YES and from the Centre who judged whether or not their money would be wisely invested in the company. Happily, the £100.00 loan was unanimously granted and will be repaid in two £50.00 instalments as per the business plan which the judges agreed was very professional and well-drafted. So far, the company has made a great £125.00 profit by attending the Renfrewshire Trade Fair in Braehead in December 2009. The trade fair is set up by the Renfrewshire Area Board for companies on the Company Programme to sell their products to the public.
